Oman Guest House

The Oman Guest House, inaugurated on December 5, 1986, by His Highness Sayyid Fahr bin Taimur Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Security and Defence of the Sultanate of Oman, stands as a distinguished symbol of generosity, friendship, and cultural exchange. Established under the patronage of the Sultanate, it endures as a landmark of hospitality and shared heritage, fostering mutual understanding among communities. More than a guest house, it is a testament to goodwill and cooperation across cultures, reflecting the deep ties that unite people through respect and tradition.

An important chapter in history is reflected in the ceremonial trowel, first
used by Mr. Alfred Lyall on January 5, 1878, for laying the Foundation
Stone of Mayo College. The same trowel was later employed on November
29, 1985, in laying the foundation stones of the Oman House and the
Oman Guest House.

It was contributed to Mayo College by the Sultan of Oman
