A Gift That Endures: The Class of 1974 Tennis Pavilion

Forty years after walking the hallowed grounds of Mayo College, the batch of 1974 returned for their Reunion with something more than memories — they brought a landmark gift to the school they called home.

The tennis pavilion, funded through donations by the 1974 batch, was formally gifted during their 40th Reunion on Jan 11. 2015. At the time, it represented the largest single donation ever made by any batch to Mayo College. Designed and executed by batchmate and architect Abhimanyu Dalal, it was the first all-stone structure with lime concrete built at Mayo in over a century, echoing the campus’s celebrated Indo-Saracenic heritage. It uses the same rough makrana marble as the Main Building and Dhunn red sandstone like the Bikaner Pavillion.

It stands today as an enduring symbol of brotherhood, pride, and the spirit of giving back.

It was contributed to Mayo College by the class of 1974
